Liverpool will take part in the Champions League this season aiming to bounce back after last season’s final heartache.
The Reds lost 3-1 to Real Madrid in Kiev back in May, with Gareth Bale scoring two stunning goals to give the La Liga giants the prize.
But Napoli president De Laurentiis has made an extraordinary claim, accusing Liverpool and Serie A giants Roma of breaking UEFA rules by having the same owner.
UEFA guidelines do not permit two teams owned by the same people or company to take part in European competition.
And, in an interview with Gazetta dello Sport, De Laurentiis said: “I have the feeling that Roma and Liverpool have the same owner.
“I was told by somebody a few years ago and if it was true they would not be allowed to play the Champions League."
However, Express Sport understands Liverpool and Roma supporters have nothing to be worried about.
The Premier League giants are owned by The Fenway Sports Group, who took over back in 2010.
