Sergio Ramos speaks the truth about Messi & Ronaldo missing out on FIFA Best

Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo's FIFA Best duopoly was brought to an end on Monday evening.
After a decade of dominance, Real Madrid's Luka Modric became the first player since Kaka in 2007 to beat the pair to the accolade.
Modric won the Champions League for a third season in a row and was the inspiration behind Croatia's journey to the World Cup final.
He also collected the Golden Ball for his efforts out in Russia.
After beating Ronaldo and Mohamed Salah in the FIFA Best award, Modric is now the favourite to also lift the Ballon d'Or.
Once again, he would be the first person since Kaka in 2007 to break the Messi and Ronaldo duopoly over the French award.
It's refreshing to see a new face collect the accolades and Modric's teammate Sergio Ramos has perfectly summed up why it's good for the game.
“We knew we were surrounded by two aliens that were just sharing these awards,” Ramos said at the ceremony to Associated Press.
“But I think it is also very positive to recognize the work, the career and the season of players that are not just strikers. I am really happy for Luka Modric."
Well put. While Messi and Ronaldo are arguably the two greatest to ever play the game, someone with Modric's achievements in the last 12 months needs recognising.
Few players in the history of football have done what the Croatian has done and it is only right that he is recognised in this way.
Both Wesley Sneijder and Andres Iniesta could have and possibly should have received similar treatment in previous years.
Ramos himself actually did vote for both Messi and Ronaldo, but Modric was his number one pick - Ronaldo was second.
Modric himself actually put Ronaldo first, with Raphael Varane second and Atletico Madrid's Antoine Griezmann in third.
