Liverpool fans react to Virgil van Dijk's defending when one-on-one with Kylian Mbappe

2018 World Cup winners France earned their first UEFA Nations League win on Sunday night by beating the Netherlands 2-1.
There were several stars on show from both teams, with two of the stand-out names being Virgil van Dijk and Kylian Mbappe.
Mbappe was phenomenal during France's triumph in Russia and has lit up European football since bursting onto the scene at Monaco.
Meanwhile, Van Dijk has drastically solidified Liverpool's previously leaky defence and is now one of the most commanding centre-backs around.

Reds supporters who tuned into the League A Group 1 clash saw Mbappe isolated with Van Dijk late on and had something to say about it.

VAN DIJK'S DISPLAY V FRANCE

Van Dijk lined up in a three-man defence at the Stade de France, in between Ajax duo Matthijs De Ligt and Daley Blind.
The ex-Manchester United man totally lost Mbappe in the box and the teenager gave his country a 14th-minute lead with a simple tap-in.

While Van Dijk wasn't at fault for that, he did allow Chelsea's Olivier Giroud to get to the ball before him and volley in the winner.
As the Dutch took more risks in search of an equaliser, defensive gaps opened up and Paul Pogba played a superb through ball to release Mbappe.

VAN DIJK AND MBAPPE ONE-ON-ONE

The pass put the lightning quick forward one-on-one with Van Dijk, but as shown below, the 27-year-old dealt with him impeccably well - in more than one aspect.
Firstly, he was wise enough not to dive in straightaway, given how much space was between him and Jasper Cillessen's goal.
Van Dijk initially backing off gave a couple of his teammates the time to track back, and once in the box, he pulled off a great block when Mbappe shot at goal.

HOW LIVERPOOL FANS REACTED ON TWITTER

Liverpool supporters were particularly interested in this battle seeing as they'll play Mbappe's Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League group stages.
