Real Madrid's first competitive match in the post-Cristiano Ronaldo era ended in defeat as they were beaten in the Super Cup 4-2 by bitter rivals, Atletico Madrid.
Julen Lopetegui's side got off to the worst possible start when Diego Costa netted for Los Colchoneros after just 52 seconds.
But Real Madrid came battling back, and held the lead with 15 minutes to go thanks to goals from Karim Benzema and Sergio Ramos.
But they could not hold on. Costa netted with 11 minutes remaining to send the game into extra-time, and further goals from Saul Niguez and Koke gave Atletico a 4-2 triumph.
It isn't a disastrous result for Los Blancos, although it's certainly not an ideal way to kick off the new season.
Of course, Ronaldo's departure in the summer has dominated the headlines at Real Madrid for some time.
Real Madrid players have all come out and played down his departure, including Sergio Ramos, who claimed just days ago that Real Madrid would keep winning after his departure.
But in reflecting on Ronaldo's exit after the final, Casemiro admitted that Los Blancos did in fact miss the 33-year-old in their Super Cup defeat.
"Of course we missed Cristiano [Ronaldo], but that's in the past," he said, per Marca. "We can't hide from that fact: any team in the world would miss him."
Interesting. One defeat and Real Madrid players are already pointing out that losing Ronaldo has been a massive blow to the team.
Casemiro is clearly disappointed by Ronaldo's decision to leave the club this summer.

Casemiro went on to state that they cannot make any excuses for the loss to their bitter rivals.
"We are hurt after losing a title but this is just the beginning. We have full confidence in our coach," he said.
"Making excuses is not the profile of Real Madrid. Here, we win together and lose together.
"We don't have a better or worse squad because of one result, the matter of new signings is for those higher up than me."
Real Madrid will be looking to put the defeat behind them when they kick off their La Liga campaign against Getafe on Sunday.
